You should tentatively schedule the session before your baby is born. Andrea knows neither you nor your doctor can predict the exact day. This simply reserves time on the calendar for planning purposes.

Once you’ve gotten home from the delivery and reasonably settled in give Andrea a call to make the appointment.
Between 5 and 10 days of age.
Typically at Andreas home studio where all of the resources (blankets, pillows, supports, etc.) are readily available and the indirect natural light is guaranteed.
Andrea recommends birthday suits as babies are hard to photograph in clothes because they tend to bunch up. But she isn’t religious about this – bring along any outfit(s) you like and we can capture a variety.
No. Andrea provides a warm home environment, heating pads and space heaters to keep them nice and cozy throughout the session.
Andrea has a wide selection of bean bags, baskets, solid color and print backdrops, knit hats, headbands and bows, cocoons, pettiskirts and the like. You are free to bring along any special items as well to include during the session. Feel free to bounce ideas around with Andrea beforehand to make the session special and unique.
One of the reasons a newborn session takes longer than others is because you spend a lot of time feeding, holding, rocking and comforting your child. These can be special moments in and of themselves and Andrea captures those images as well. There are usually three shots we get with newborns: Happily asleep, happily awake or mad as a hornet – sometimes all three in a single session – which is a perfect microcosm of their daily l life at this age.
A well fed, sleeping and dry baby in the diaper department usually makes for great photographs. Arrive early (30 minutes or so) for your session with a ‘hungry’ baby and feed them in the studio. Avoid putting your baby in clothing with elastic before the shoot, as this will cause red marks that may not go away in time for the photos.
